It’s only because of our use of liquid Co2 that lets us work with Live’ biomass. If you elect, you’ll also be able to process uncured LIVE’ Resin Glands & Trichomes collected from the Resinator Cryo-Sieve™ process to be used in tandem with lyophilization process and proper freeze dry equipment. Note: A freeze dryer is not necessary when working with biomass that has already been dried and cured. It’s only when a secondary refinement of concentrated trichomes is Live’ and accompanied with downstream solventless application that freeze drying is required. If your secondary refinement is going into a closed loop or hydrocarbon system/application then your fresh frozen material and water contained within biomass does not have an adverse reaction to the water molecules and therefore does not need to be sublimated in the lyophilation process, just stored in a deep freezer until ready to process.
Lyophilization, aka; freeze drying is certainly the future, which ’TOR’ is leading the industry in LIVE’ Solventless applications, Crop-to-Cure™ & LIVE’ DRIED technology; The Original Resinator team will be able to assist you in selecting the appropriate type and size freeze dryer(s) for your operation. This method will create more profits by accelerating your timeline and space/labor requirements typically needed with traditional and arduous costly curing room methods. Because of our use of C02, you’ll be able to also process your biomass, flower, kief and bubble hash all in “LIVE” applications. You’ll have fresher product, potency, aroma translating towards higher dollar value due to the incredible preservation and presentation of your finished products and translating to higher customer demand for premium consumables. For clarity, adapting our methodology will allow bypass of traditional flower trimming, drying and curing process to alternatively work with uncured, fresh cut or fresh frozen buds/flowers and hence utilize the entire plant to produce “LIVE RESIN GLANDS” aka; “LIVE KIEF”. Please keep in mind that when it comes to “Live applications” it is critical to “Maintain Cold Chain”. So you will need to immediately place the biomass within a deep freezer or a cryo-freezer (ultra-low temp freezer) as a staging area to preserve or suspend the biomass for further processing. Whereas, placing the biomass directly within a pre-frozen freeze-dryer for lyophilization process will stabilize the biomass making the product shelf ready within a compressed time period. This establishes the highest value product retention using revolutionary curing methods and stabilizes all biomass appropriately for shelf storage, testing, packaging, distribution and consumption. Hence your products will retain all of the “high Value” elements; i.e. potency, flavor and marketable appearance.

Liquid C02: When sifting flowers or sugarleaf, consumption is approximately 1-2 Lbs. of Liquid C02 per 1 Lb. of biomass. However and to ensure that you don’t run out of Liquid C02 we recommend having 2 Lbs. of Liquid C02 per each 1 Lb. of trimming of flowers.
Cost per Lbs of Liquid C02 is approximately $1 per Lbs at retail, while larger volumes of delivered C02 can be purchased for as low as $0.25 per Lbs pending your local supplier. Don’t let the term LIQUID Co2 confuse matters. All that is required to dispense Co2 in its liquid state is a standard high pressure Carbon Dioxide tank with a siphon tube. Also known as a “Co2 Siphon Tank” or “Dip Tube Tank”. The Siphon tank has a tube that runs down the center to dispense the liquid Co2. … Most standard Siphon tanks come in 20, 50 or 75 pounds. These size cylinders work great for anysize operation big or small. Larger cylinders known as liquid cylinders (aka dewars), are also available. Liquid cylinders release much lower pressure than a standard high pressure tank. A standard 50 lb cylinder will release Co2 at 800psi whereas a 180L or 230L ( litre) liquid cylinder will have a limit of 350 PSI. When applying use in a commercial operation we recommend using the larger liquid cylinders. Normally Co2 tanks and cylinders are not purchased, they are rented by the day or week etc. You can still purchase the tanks and get them refilled at any local welding supply shop or Co2 gas supplier. Because of the weight and maintenance we recommend renting them. You can also have the local Co2 supplier deliver to your venue or site for a small fee.
Co2 can evaporate into the air or be recycled by condensation into a cold recovery vessel. The Resinator is NOT a closed loop, high pressure or Co2 recovery system and allows for plant material to tumble while “gas” is injected into the chamber for the coldest possible temperatures without recovering the spent gas. This is why it is important to monitor Co2 levels in your work environment. Refer to our “Monitoring Co2” section of our website for a thorough description on this matter.
When utilizing The Original Resinator we are only using the liquid Co2 as a freezing agent. The Original Resinator is NOT a closed loop or high pressure system. Although we operate at sub-zero temperatures we do not enter a subcritical or supercritical state. Co2/Carbon dioxide usually behaves as a gas in air at standard temperature and pressure (STP), or as a solid called dry ice when frozen. If the temperature and pressure are both increased from STP to be at or above the critical point for carbon dioxide, it can adopt properties midway between a gas and a liquid. Carbon dioxide (Co2) is a supercritical fluid, meaning it converts into a liquid form when pressurized. Supercritical carbon dioxide (sCo2) is a fluid state of carbon dioxide where it is held at or above its critical temperature and critical pressure. Subcritical Co2 extraction uses Co2 in its liquid state, below its critical point. At the same time, it is a pure chemical substance that occurs naturally and leaves behind no residues. Accordingly, the Co2 extraction method can help ensure cannabis concentrates are pure, making it a good option for patients in search of a natural form of cannabis extract. Although liquid Co2 does not possess the incredible diffusivity of supercritical fluid, its density is far greater. In fact, 95% of all cannabis extractions are done in the subcritical phase before moving onto the supercritical phase. There is a large variety of quality closed loop high pressure systems out there to choose from when selecting what equipment suits an operation. No matter the choice, as a post-harvest and pre-process tool, The Original Resinator compliments just about any system seeking to optimize secondary refinement of their reduced biomass into a concentrated form. TOR also minimises initial expense of costly equipment needed when making extractions by maximizing throughput and dramatically reducing labor cost. All without sacrificing quality or yield.
